Texas A&M University at Galveston, known as “the ocean oriented campus” of Texas A&M University, offers a unique blend of marine and maritime programs including majors in science, business, engineering, and transportation. “We encourage professionals from the maritime and transportation industries worldwide to participate in this worthwhile event,” says Katrin Flensborg, Managing Director of Flensborg and Associates GmbH.  “Not only does the Break-Bulk Business Run provide unique professional networking opportunities via an exciting sporting event; all of the proceeds derived from participant fees at the October 2011 event will provide educational opportunities for students at Texas A&M University at Galveston seeking to enter the transportation and maritime industries.”

Industry veteran Buddy Schurig of Texas Terminals will fire the starting shot to kick off the 6th Break-Bulk Business Run.  “This event combines networking and sport in an exciting environment,” said Anders Flensborg, Managing Director of Flensborg International.  The native Dane, based in Munich, is one of the initiators of the event which takes place a few times each year at different locations worldwide.  “The run is not a race”, says Flensborg. “Everyone can participate by running or walking at an enjoyable pace.”
Participant registration began in early September and has already drawn double digit participation in less than two weeks.  Given the current pace, organizers are optimistic that this 6th Break-Bulk Business Run, taking place in New Orleans, will draw a record-breaking number of attendees.  Registration is open until October 24th 2011.  Participants can choose from either a 5K or 10K route.  The participation fee is an affordable $35 USD.  Participants will receive a running shirt to wear during the event and keep as a souvenir.  They will also have access to a professional running coach during the event.
